Alabamy Bound
A fun-filled late night jazz gig brought right into your school in the middle of the day!
Five veteran jazz performers from around the capital will come to play some of the coolest sounds from across the last century with styles and musical roots garnered from North America, South America, Africa and Europe into a varied feast of live music.
Individual instruments will be demonstrated as will some of the secrets of jazz rhythm. Brief introductions will show how the music played fits into the history of jazz and the culture of the times, and name some of the most famous jazz artists with one or two fitting anecdotes.
The children will be expected to join in with some singing and body percussion to help keep the band in time and individual children will be invited to give musical directions to the players at certain stages of the performance
Live music provides a tangible and memorable experience: it involves anticipation and interaction, and in their role as the audience the children can enjoy being involved as an indispensable part of the performance.
